URBAN REGENERATION

This Urban Regeneration exercise explores the unique possibilities and collaboration by uniting cultural institutions and community plans on a densely populated site within an Integrated Commercial Transit-Oriented Development. The network of connected structures, known as ‘people & connection,’ symbolizes the creative energy and cooperative spirit of the integrated transportation network. The proposed design includes multi-generational homes, a community hub, and a Hybrid Park & Play area in the green space.

In developing the urban context of the Sub Urban District, whose buildings and connecting public realm will be inhabited and animated by a variety of forms of creation, making, learning, performance, and interaction.

The new development will serve as a new cultural anchor corridor. The exceptional combined presence of these cultural partners presents promising opportunities to establish new venues for a new generation and a critical mass, both of which have the transformative potential to generate novel ideas that have never been seen.

CULTURAL MACHINE

The diverse objectives of cultural partner organizations are effectively integrated into a robust, flexible framework capable of accommodating and rejuvenating newly developed initiatives, forming a ‘Cultural Machine.’ While each institution retains its distinct identity within the stacked ensemble of buildings, overlaps and intersections provide opportunities for productive cross-programming.

The layout highlights the potential and excitement of jointly programmed spaces, enabling organizations to collaborate, communicate with the public, and engage with a larger audience.
